Meet Our Sisters

Visit convents and ministries of Chicagoland Catholic Sisters during National Vocation Awareness Week — November 3 – 9

Chicago area members of Communicators for Women Religious (CWR) invite you to the inaugural Meet Our Sisters Tour, a collaborative event during National Vocation Awareness Week to raise awareness of the vast presence of Catholic sisters who live and serve in Chicagoland. The self-guided tour is open to anyone who wants to learn more about how to build a culture of vocation in our world today and to develop a better understanding of religious life. This year’s participants are Giving Voice, School Sisters of Notre Dame, the Congregation of St. Joseph, Sisters of St. Francis, Adrian Dominican Sisters, Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Benedictine Sisters of Chicago, Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, and Wheaton Franciscans.

Each participating congregation, community, and ministry has set hours on specific days for you to drop by to meet a sister and learn more about how Catholic sisters continue to be a presence in the lives of so many people. For more information, please email [email protected].

What is National Vocation Awareness Week?

National Vocation Awareness Week, sponsored by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) Committee on Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations, is designed to help promote vocation awareness. This annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States occurs on the first full week in November. NVAW is dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education. NVAW also emphasizes a renewal of our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations.

This is your invitation to learn more and to help us build a culture of vocations…

Visit convents and ministries of Chicagoland Catholic Sisters.

Tucked between expressways and hidden among the bustle and noise of city and suburban life is the powerful, yet often quiet, influence of Catholic sisters. These women have dedicated their lives to serving God and spreading the kingdom of His love. We invite you to explore the ways Catholic sisters live and work in Chicagoland by visiting their homes, their chapels, their heritage rooms, and their ministries during National Vocation Awareness Week.

Each participating congregation, community, or ministry has set hours for you to drop by to meet a sister, briefly tour their facility and learn more about how Catholic sisters continue to be a presence in the lives of so many people.

The sisters look forward to meeting you, but please respect their privacy and time by ONLY visiting during the designated tour times.
